Justice can be hard, which is more than I can say for those post-granny rapists. Whether Granny knew right from wrong I cannot say, but apparently she knew right from left. Her defense might be that she had a co*keyed view of justice. *c is for censor [NightListener]

Ironing 4 shirts is still optimistic if the bank maintains a casual Friday. Last time I went to the bank on Friday, even the executives were wearing jeans and dumpy T-shirts bearing the bank logo. And that was before the economic crash.[NightListener]

lol! Hello Sharda....its been a long time since we chatted...I haven't been able to fix my MSN...I didn't know it wasn't working properly at first....then I went on and its got something messed up on it ( I need Red to fix it when he gets home). I don't know how it got so messed up, but I can't get back to the chat feature...its just on some WordPad with no Exit. Weird. Anyways, I'll be back up and running soon. Sorry if I haven't gotten back to you sooner...I was wondering why I hadn't heard from you in so long....but you were probably wondering why you hadn't heard from me.... ...Anyways, I hope all is well with you...take care....we'll talk soon. The Power of Forgiveness
|
I do believe in the power of forgiveness to set one free from being a prisoner of hate for the rest of one's life. However, I'm exhausted today from travelling yesterday and my emotional reserve is low. In my mind what I'm really thinking is that if I were a woman raped twice by a man, I would find it easier to forgive him after I had cut off his dick. [NightListener]

Old Hindu legend...
|
By the end of the 3rd paragraph I was thinking if I were Brahma, I'd hide divinity in the human heart. If someone were to ask me if God ever speaks to me, I would say that every time I encounter an experience such as this story, God is speaking to me. I have no fear of a devil trying to mislead me with illusion for I believe that the affirmation in this story reveals a truth, but if over time I begin to misinterpret or pervert or corrupt its meaning, God will provide a new experience to steer me back on course. It has happened time after time. This reflects the nature of my faith. [NightListener]

Todays Debate
|
Sharda, Thanks for your note. If someone's entry inspires me to respond, I do. But I don't feel obligated to comment nor do I expect comments from everyone who reads my diary or whose diary I read. Please let go of any guilt related to whether you comment in my diary or not. And then find something else you feel guilty about and let go of that guilt too. I generally get more pleasure out of commenting in other people's diaries than I do writing in my own. Your efforts in your diary make me think, feel, and sometimes laugh. I read and comment there for my own pleasure. [NightListener]

A letter from The maker
|
During my son's senior year in high school, I grieved in anticipation of his going off to college across the country where visits would be costly and therefore limited. I knew our lives would never be the same again. Finally it occurred to me to thank God for having loaned our son to us and to give our son back to God for safe keeping. That decision brought me a great deal of peace, especially during his one summer home following his freshman year when he often returned home from an evening out after 3:00 a.m. if at all. You may have solved the energy crisis with this idea. Perhaps if we would replace our gas tanks with shark powered fish tanks, we could run our cars on hydraulic power. In additon, all that Omega-3 pollution might be good for our hearts. Or better yet, we could combine bicycles with alligator infestation.[NightListener]

Erm. I'm not sure what you meant by your comment, but I'm a 14 year old boy, just so you know. People often confused me for the opposite gender due to my username. I like reading a lot of one-liners in a row. When the juices are flowing, I can read 1 through 31 and then write 32 through 40 myself. My juices don't seem to be flowing at the moment, but tomorrow is another day. These are clever observations with some good plays on words. The rhythm helps to get the creativity flowing. The sentence constructions are good examples of comic delivery.[NightListener]

Some short stories of Manto
|
Hey Sharda! Thanks for introducing me to Manto whose stories are almost unbearable--as in "I dare you to look!" These particular stories are so short they are almost like fragments of dreams--nightmares actually--that leave me feeling like Munch's silent scream or the place in a Dostoyevsky audio tape where I press stop because I can't take anymore--and yet I know I will return when my sense of horror subsides because I can't take my mind off of what has already been revealed. I sense the need to find resolution when I know there is none to be found. [NightListener]

Did you know?
|
WATER IS NOT LIPID BASED PLANTS DO NOT HAVE LIPIDS we didn't give transfusions of coconut water to the wounded in the PTO, rather, if they could drink, medics tried to get them to take sips of coconut milk. as an interesting FYI, during the aftermath of Korea and WWII, Coke was asked to help invent a drinkable replacement for blood plasma for mildly wounded soldiers. The army never adopted the product, but Coke, decided to market it starting in the 60's under the name of sprite. And sprite is the closest thing with regards to electrolytes and blood plasma that we have. In fact my tracks used to carry cases of it when we were in training and combat. The key was that you have to 1) have someone who could drink it without being sick 2) it had to be flat 3) it HAS to be warm 4) and they cannot be suffereing from shock or a major wound. Your entry warms my heart as does Prosper's comment below. Together they are reminders that "Future Shock" is NOW! They are also a reminder that I am old. What is remarkable to me is that the younger generation seems so smart about keeping up with change as the natural course of modern life. They take Future Shock for granted to the extent that it almost no longer matters if they know who Alvin Toffler is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alvin_Toffler [NightListener]

Love's story
|
I enjoy stories such as this very much. As someone who is growing elder I might add that although Time heals all wounds, it also seems to wound all heels--knees, shoulders, spines, etc. I suppose that's part of the purifying process that readies us for what is to come. Life and Time have a way of getting us down to the basics of who we are in relationship to the universe, which I suppose is ultimately Knowledge. [NightListener]

My Dad brought home a stranger....
|
Good story. I guessed who the stranger was by the end of the 3rd paragraph, which made the suspense associated with validating my guess with the conclusion all the more enjoyable. My dad also brought a stranger into the house who was a good but incessant storyteller, entertaining and well versed in worldly information. We too loved him. But one night while we were sleeping he got up in a psychotic state and killed my parents, raped my sister, and threatened to slash my throat before the wall timer turned on the television to "Cops." The stranger, thinking the cops were at our door, turned and escaped before any further harm came to me. I often wake up screaming from nightmares reliving the incident to this very day. I think the law in Lebanon that a man may have sex with an animal so long as it is a female animal probably came about because it was getting expensive to stone to death horses and bulls for having kicked to death their human consorts. Speaking of animals, I'd like a fisheye view of Liverpool.[NightListener]

A clear understanding of mans relation to God
|
Thinking I was disagreeing with something you said above, I wrote the following. Then I reread what you wrote and realized you weren't speaking in the absolutes I thought you were and that in fact I actually didn't disagree with anything you said above. In fact you actually said much that I afterward was trying to say, but you said it better. I'll leave my comment anyway for the sake of letting you know how your writing stimulated my thoughts: ..........================.......... I've never known philosophy to provide solutions--only possible solutions because at the root of each strand of philosophy are assumptions that must be accepted on faith whether it be faith in our ability to trust our perceptions; faith that we do indeed exist; faith that we are or are not the product of one another's imagination; faith that we are not just blurs in the minds of rocks; faith that beginnings and ends are or are not part of the nature of "things"; faith that life goes on or doesn't; faith in divine creation or divine inspiration or not; faith in fate, free will, or a byproduct of the two; faith in logic or intuition of chaos or fractals or black holes in space. Philosophy helps us by getting us to ask questions beyond the answers we start off with and to exercise the circuits of our minds by following implications of serendipities to logical conclusions and diverse possibilities. Philosophy gives us hope by giving us reasons to doubt our negativity and to question our most closely held certainties. But at the end of the day we're still stuck with human minds and all the threshholds of thought inherent in the mind's abilities and limitations. Sometimes solving a problem begins by just getting us to admit we have a problem. Philosphy can provide solutions that are good enough to get us from one day to the next and maybe even from one lifetime to the next, but ultimate and absolute Truth, if such exists, is elusive. The story is funny but it reinforces a negative racial stereotype to the detriment of many people who wind up being undeservedly penalized by the perpetration of such stereotypes. The joke could have been just as funny had the punchline been "We did, but a third of the members threatened to resign."[NightListener]

Three very important ingrediants to acheivement. I think if you start with motivation you'd be surprised what your able to do, and how happy your are to do it. Motivation is also the worse stumbling block of the three. Finding the right reasons to do things is the answer. I look to the Lord for my reasons. You take care Sharda. Thanks for setting me straight with your comment. I apologize that my response seemed critical of you. I wasn't thinking in terms of you at the start. I was just reacting to the story, the moral of which I did not like, probably because I'm a busybody who meddles in other people's lives. I also didn't like it because the story triggered my memory of when a thief used a stone to break a window in our home in the middle of the night while we were home. As he worked to cut a hole in the exterior screen I grabbed a Chinese cleaver and stood holding my breath adjacent to the window prepared to cut off anything that came through. As I waited for the screen to be cut, I thought about it and decided it would be better to run to the chained front door, flash the porch lights, and yell "Help! Police!" repeatedly at the top of my lungs. That scared the thief away fortunately--especially since he turned out to be the 12-year-old son of neighbors 4 doors down with two of his friends. I had trouble sleeping for at least 6-months after that and was up everytime I heard any kind of noise outside. The idea of doing nothing with a thief breaking in shocked me. That the donkey could talk to the dog, made him human enough for me. My reaction was very personal. On the second part of my response, I should have just listened because you were venting. I apologize again for overreacting. I think it best that I not comment on your personal life because to do so oversteps boundaries that should be respected. In rereading what I wrote, I see that it can be taken as being critical. I tend to try to look for alternate ways of seeing things, but to do so here was inappropriate. You made your point well about how you are feeling right now. To turn it into anything else in your diary is pure chutzpah. I'm actually proud of my chutzpah, but not in this case. Thanks. Stories serve a purpose. The same basic fact pattern can serve many purposes. Surely one has better choices than letting a thief plunder one's master's house. Surely star performers can stand up and say "I'm tired and overworked and want more moderation in my work." Of course star performers are usually rewarded with higher compensation. One would have to trade off higher compensation for a lower profile role in operations. The donkey had other options open as well. He could have sat on the thief or kicked him unconscious before he started braying as proof that there was method to his madness. We live and we learn.[NightListener]

Obama is a worthy candidate
|
if yall vote for BARRACK HUSANE OBAMA YALL ARE f***ING STUPID, 1.) just take a look at his name barrack obama (iraq will bomb us) it sounds EXZACTALLY ALIKE!!!!!!!! and husane (his middle name) hes probably related to SUDAM HUSANE!!!!! YALL HAVE SEEN THE PICTURES OF HIM IN THAT MUSLIM TURBIN.... DID YOU KNOW THAT HE WASENT BORN IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA???? THATS CORRECT!!!! THE ONLY WAY HE EVER GOT CITIZENSHIP WAS BECAUSE HE WAS SUPOSIVELY BORN ON AN "ARMY BARRICKS". 2.) everyone thinks hes black but if you look closely you will see that there is no black in him at all, its an iraqui groomed to look like an average american. 3.) AND THAT DAMN PREDJUST PASTOR OF HIS!!! SAYING TO DAMN ALL AMERICANS!!!! THATS EXZACTALLY WHAT OBAMA WILL DO IF HES ELECTED IS DAMN ALL OF US AMERICANS. HIS PASTER SAYS THAT HE HATES WHITE PEOPLE AND WE ALL ARE DEVILS??? HAHA THATS f***ING HILLERIOUS!!! AND OBAMA SAYS THAT HE DONT BELIEVE IN THE SAME THINGS HE DOSE-WELL IM HERE TO TELL YOU THAT THAT IS A f***ING LIE!!!!!!!!! HES BEEN GOING TO THE SAME DAMN CHURCH FOR 30 YEARS AND HE DONT BELIEVE IN THE SAME THINGS?? THAT MAKES NO f***ING SENSE. 4.) I know what yall are thinking...BUT IM HERE TO TELL YOU THAT im not one of these predjust people that just dont want him in there because hes black...well im here to tell you that thats not the reason at all. 3 people in my family are black so how the f*** am i predjust?? you need to ask that question to obama whether or not he is because of the sh*t his pastor "for 30 years said"( EVEN THOUGH HES REALLY NOT BLACK HES AN IRAQUI MUSLUM) 5.) I think that all yall who vote for him is f***ing stupid and ignorant.....you all must be really uneduated to vote a muslum WHO WE ARE AT WAR WITH to be our president...yall are just sending us to death.......... 6.).............get someone with experience in the white house again... all hillary is doing is fronting her name cuz bill will really be the one running things. he cant run again because he has already served his 8 years and once you served your 8 years you cannot run again. so im 100% for hillary becauise when bill was president none of this sh*t happened!!! the tax prices will go down and our troops will be sent home and there will be more jobs available, cheaper collage, and insurance available to everyone!!! if yall dont vote for hillary then you all are f***ing blind and yall will be the cause of our death or americas death!!!!! PLEASE GOD.. BLESS AMERICA!! 7.) REMEMBER: IT TOOK A CLINTON TO CLEAN UP AFTER THE FIRST BUSH AND IT WILL TAKE A CLINTON TO CLEAN UP AFTER THE SECOND BUSH!!! 8.) DONT BE AN IGNORENT ASS AND DONT DAMN US!!! VOTE HILLARY!!!! YEAH!!! ;P

Thanks for providing this informative reading. I had misread the the line "...the time of an individual in the hoped-for span of a hundred years between birth and death" as "between death and birth," which called to mind a thought I had earlier this week about how shocking it would be to walk toward the light in death, only to immediately emerge from the birth canal as a newborn without a distillation period in between. It gave new meaning to the term "death wish."[NightListener]

There has been done lots of research into Vitamin D lately and now they recommending take person should take 1,000 Units of Vitamin D a day. Of course with sunshine, one should cut down, but I found out interesting story from my naturopath, if you are suntanning and then get inside, you should not have a shower for about two hours, because sun has an effect on bodily bacteria, which create Vitamin D for our bodies. Interesting, huh? I know my doctor takes 7,000 Units a day in wintertime.....but who knows if that is not dangerous? [Hvezda]
